Dabaw-INYO Original poem by Ria
Kana atong
siyang tagsa- tagsaon ug adto.
Naa pay durian, copra ug abaka,
Dili matupungan kiningka-abunda.
Biography
I am Ria Pascual, a Student of AMA Computer College, taking up Bachelor of Science Major in Information Technology and student of English 7 Philippine Literature under Mr. Michael Mendez. I am really fond of reading books, especially about Science Fiction because I do love to learn new things, going far through my imagination. I also read books about Gat. Jose Rizal because I really want to learn about our history, mostly about our National hero’s life and what he came through before being a hero of our country, and also about how the Spaniards, Americans, and Magellan conquered our country and how our fellow Filipinos fought for our freedom. I love everything about our literature, our history because it mirrors what our country is today, and we should be thankful of what they did for us. And lastly I am really into watching documentaries about the happenings in our country. To keep me aware and knowledgeable about our own, to be able to know what to do if I encounter such happenings in my life.
If I would be asked which would I pick, of which book I’ll read, local or foreign? I would really pick local, because I firmly believe of encouraging our fellow Filipinos to put more importance of what we have than what they have and we need to love our country, as we love ourselves.

Analysis
For years, the prevailing narrative that came to define Davao City in the media was wholly incomplete. Much of what was portrayed was depictions of neighborhoods that bore the brunt of the industrial collapse. What was missing were the stories of people living in great neighborhoods, amongst great neighbors, and wouldn’t think of living anywhere else.
It seemed as though few people outside of the city knew anything about the breathtaking architecture, the vibrant culture churning in the city’s center, or the gorgeous homes nestled just north of downtown. There were thousands of people who loved and championed Davao City, but their voices weren’t being heard. Now, I wrote the poem to express what I have observed about our city and erase the misconceptions about our city, Davao City. I am aware and saw the city’s immeasurable accomplishments and success. It shows in many government or private data and statistics that Davao is one of the best performing cities in the world. Davao is indeed a very safe and very peaceful city. There is no discrimination. Most people abide the law. The place is very dangerous for the "Criminals", absolutely dangerous for them. If you do bad things in Davao, you will either leave the city horizontally or vertically. Davao, has a slogan that “life is here” for good people and "life ends here for the criminals". Davao really never fails to impress me every single day. I am proud to be a Davaoena, I am proud of what our officials did to our city, and also to the Davaoenos who really exerts their own efforts into improving our city
No place in the world can guarantee safety of everyone all the time, Davao City is not perfect, but I can proudly say that it is the best in so many ways.
